The reason why the public needs to be informed is so that there is some transparency with our process, but also because debaters expect someone to be able to finish out their ongoing debates and will naturally be curious when someone cannot. Not included in this log are bans impacting accounts that were created exclusively for spam. The information given for each kind of log is clearly stated below:
Enteries of permanent bans will state the date the ban was put into effect and provide a brief summary of why the user was permanently banned.
Entries of bans by request
Entries of closed multi-accounts
As the chief moderator, my goal is to make the moderation team more transparent with our process. On June 19, 2020, the moderation team decided to move the ban log to its own dedicated page in order to clear up forum space.. The moderator who made the ban ruling will also be included in all entries. Moderation will not offer public comment on the reasons for temporary bans unless and until either (a) the banned user returns and raises the issue publicly or (b) public interest outweighs the banned user's privacy concerns. If you have any questions as to why someone was banned, please refer them to this page. If you are banned and want to appeal your ban, please email us at [email protected]
